What led you to become a surrogate?
The obvious answer is wanting to help a family add to/complete their family. That said, I also had a desire to experience a natural child birth (which I did). I like to refer to myself as a birth nerd turned surrogate...
What made you decide to choose Dream Surrogacy?
I was creeping on a few Facebook Gestational Surrogate support groups for a year or so when I stumbled across a post that mentioned Dream. I knew that I needed to work with an agency that worked well with surrogates from my state. And after looking up the website, I applied. I was on the phone with Christina the next day and I can't say enough great things about her as well as everyone I spoke with or emailed with going forward.
What is the relationship like with your intended parent(s)?
My relationship with my intended parents is fantastic. I couldn't have asked for a better family to carry for. We refer to each other as family now and we are planning to visit them in the future.
What are some high points of your journey?
The high points include: transfer day, pregnancy test day and delivery day. Memories that I'll never forget, EVER.
What advice do you give to others who want to become a gestational surrogate?
Research it throughly. If you feel that you have it in your heart to do it, do it. It sounds intense and it is but, it is exceptionally rewarding as well!
What did you do to prepare yourself for surrogacy?
I prayed (I understand not everyone is religious but for me I prayed about it ALL). Praying about it helped me feel at peace throughout the entire process. I also exercised regularly and went on a juice cleanse in the days leading up to transfer day (Squeezed Juice cleanse).
How has your decision to become a surrogate impacted your life?
My decision to become a surrogate has impacted my life tremendously. I now have this special family that has accepted my family into theirs. And we can support and love each other in our own unique way. Furthermore, I have received several questions from friends and family and in sharing my journey, I believe I am spreading awareness about gestational surrogacy which is super important.
